La casa de l'EVA
exhibition for the EVA (En Veu Alta) festival 20th anniversary
La casa de l’EVA is an exhibition designed, created and built by Marta R. Peribáñez and Joan Tomás, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the oral festival EVA (En Veu Alta).
For 20 years, the Eva festival has been present in 45 municipalities in the Penedés and Priorat regions, where more than 400 small-format shows by more than 350 artists have taken place.
Based on the photographic archive, made up of more than 20,000 images, texts, and catalogues, and adding the memories of the experiences lived by the festival team, the public and the 350 participating artists, furniture and everyday objects have been intervened to recreate the structure of a house, a home. In an exercise of memory recovery, La casa de l’Eva welcomes all these experiences and invites the public to inhabit these spaces to relive the journey of the festival during its 20 years.
The exhibition has been in the Claustre de Sant Francesc in Vilafranca del Penedés, in the facilities of the Territorial Service of the Generalitat de Catalunya in Tarragona and in the public space of the municipality of Pradell de la Teixeta del Priorat during the months of May, June and July 2024.
La casa de l’EVA occupies more than 200 m² in the form of a house that is completely integrated into the EVA universe and 20 years of experiences, synergies, people and territory. We want to show it to you and we want to share it by opening drawers, reading postcards, watching TV or sitting comfortably looking at a photo album, because La casa de l’EVA is as much ours as it is yours. You will find familiar faces, unforgettable shows and spaces that you can still see again and that will make you feel not like home, but at home.
Welcome to La casa de l’EVA!

Creating EVA's house has been a fascinating journey, a four-handed creation based on few premises and allowing us to play all the time as we moved forward. The final result is an amalgam of creations using various techniques and languages. Many of them have "art brut" or art classified as "outsider" as a reference. The sum of all the pieces maintains a strong narrative coherence that exposes the dimension and depth of the action of the twenty years of the EVA Festival. The result is an installation that pays tribute to all those who, for 20 years, have made it possible: artists, collaborators, volunteers, public, institutions, management and team of the festival, who year after year have worked to bring the living word throughout the territory.
